Things Every Cat Should Know. A Diary of Musings, Views and Advice from a Wise Old Tom.

The Night Shift

Whisper silent
so he glides
through the shapeless night
and round the corner saw him go
then gone and out of sight.
He's black, he's smart,
he's worldly wise;
knows the way things are.
How he disappears so quick
is really quite bizarre!
And none would ever guess
he has such deadly licence,
The police;
they won't catch him
for he keeps an oath of silence.
When the dastard deed is done
outside may lie some victim.
There's no forensic evidence;
paws? - already licked them!
So, whisper silent, here he comes
back into his house.
Find a spot. Go to sleep.
Who killed that little mouse?

Hi my owner has asked me to write a comment as she isn't sure whether you post comments from humans. I am a 16 week old tabby kitten who has been enjoying your blog immensely. It's so nice to get a feline perspective on life. I also enjoy your intelligent word imp contributions. We cats are so underestimated. I will heed your warnings of walking on ponds masquerading as firm surfaces. I haven't yet been allowed outside but anticipate the moment coming very soon. At least then I'll be able to escape the wretched children that share my home. They do insist on picking me up at every opportunity. With all good feline wishes. Milkshakes (yes I know it's a stupid name - once again blame the children!)
